Yin and Yang in Vienna
An idea without delivery remains just an idea.
This week I returned to Vienna for a shoot at the Mandarin Oriental hotel, working with Goddard Littlefair - Martin Goddard and Jo Littlefair.
It’s always a pleasure spending time with them, and studying and capturing their work. Their every design decision is steeped in meaning, and this project continues to surprise and educate me.
Housed within a historic building, Goddard Littlefair have created a genuine sense of joy and celebration - from the champagne-bubble-inspired entrance through to every surface, texture, piece of furniture and fitting. All bespoke. All original. All created specifically for this project.
They’re not just exceptional visual storytellers - they’re equally rigorous about delivery.
Concepts can be rendered beautifully. But they’re still concepts.
These ideas haven’t simply been imagined or visualised - they’ve been realised.
On budget, on time, beautifully made, and robust enough to withstand constant use within a public environment.
That balance - concept and execution - is the 'yin and yang' of commercial creativity.
It’s never one without the other.
